About the Short Films

PIGEON BUSINESSMAN (USA, 2 min.)

Directed by Will Blank.
A day in the life of a serious businessman who also happens to be an anthropomorphic pigeon. Produced by Bill Plympton.

IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, LOOK AWAY (France, 30 min.)

Directed by Margaux Fournier.
Every day, Joëlle and her friends, all in their seventies, gather at their beloved seaside meeting place (in Marseille). They laugh, gossip, talk about love, sex and their changing bodies. Together, they turn the beach into an open-air stage, where they embrace the freedom of women who have nothing left to prove.

GILBERT (Spain, 13 min.)

Directed by Arturo Lacal, Alex Salu, and Jordi Jiménez.
Gilbert is a postman who delivers packages to his neighbors in the archipelago where he lives. Everything changes the day he decides to keep a package that was meant for his neighbor Sullivan.

EXAM (EGZAMIN) (Poland, 16 min.)

Directed by Jan Naszewski & Agnieszka Matan.
A pair of sensitive thirty-somethings are asked to be a model couple during their therapist's exam session. A therapist, an international committee, the worst interpreter and the hidden frustrations of the spouses. What could possibly go wrong?

DANSE MACABRE (Netherlands, 6 min.)

Directed by Hisko Hulsing.
Based on Symphoney No. 10 by Dmitri Shostakovich.
Resurrected by sinister muses, an army emerges from the darkness sounding the trumpets of war. In this apocalyptic nightmare, Shostakovich's music drags us into a violent maelstrom of terror, destruction and human suffering.

LIVING WITH A VISIONARY (USA, 15 min.)

Directed by Stephen P Neary.
Narrated by Academy Award nominee James Cromwell, and based on John Matthias’ memoir first published in The New Yorker, Living with a Visionary is a soulful, bittersweet reflection on John’s fifty-year marriage to Diana, an art curator grappling with Parkinson’s.

FANGIO: COURAGE OR DESTINY? (Argentina/USA, 15 min.)

Directed by Nicolas P Villarreal.
A young boy is confronted with his future and the decisions he must make to fulfill his destiny. Inspired by the 1955 Formula 1 Grand Prix in Argentina, where Juan Manuel Fangio had to suffer third-degree burns on his leg in order to win the race.

SOMETHING WILD (Hungary/USA, 22 min.)

Directed by Zsuzsanna Konrad.
Zsofi is a reserved straight-A-student whose future seems to be set in stone. Yet somewhere deep beneath the tidy exterior, there is something wild and unrestrained that wants to be free. That force manifests with her turning into a bear. As her transformations become more and more frequent, it becomes a big dilemma for her family.
