FIRST JOBS was created by leading television producer and USC alumnus Aaron Kaplan (A Million Little Things and American Housewife on ABC, The Neighborhood and The Unicorn on CBS, HouseBroken on Fox, The Chi on Showtime and Delhi Crime on Netflix ) in partnership with the School of Cinematic Arts to help recent SCA alumni land their first paid jobs in the industry, and to connect companies with hiring needs to these eager, well-trained, potential employees.
FIRST JOBS gives participating employers access to a pool of talented recent USC School of Cinematic Arts graduates who meet all the qualifications for entry-level jobs in the entertainment industry, and gives recent graduates an opportunity to join leading industry companies and productions. Since its inception, our program has generated and staffed over 1,500 paid employment opportunities for our alumni through our network of over 1,000 employers. Over 100 of these alumni have earned a promotion and have consulted First Jobs to hire for their own companies and projects.
“Launching FIRST JOBS at USC, the #1 ranked school for the study of cinematic arts, makes it possible to identify and support the most qualified and highly trained future leaders, innovators, creators and storytellers,” Kaplan said. He hopes the initiative will encourage successful alumni to give back by cracking open the door for the next generation. “For recent graduates, getting that first paying job is really, really difficult, and we’ve found a way to make it less difficult. The rest is up to them.”
FIRST JOBS is seeking partnerships across the spectrum of the entertainment industry, including companies involved in creative and behind-the-scenes endeavors and emerging areas in technology development and product innovation. Participating employers are not required to be USC alumni nor will they be charged for First Jobs services. Since its inception, our program has generated and staffed over 1,500 paid employment opportunities for our alumni.
Participating employers in the FIRST JOBS program will offer paid entry-level positions on a regular basis. These can be office positions or on set. Your jobs will be posted and sent to these qualified candidates who have been accepted into the program.
Candidates in the program are recent SCA graduates or minor degree holders (1-5 years out), have gone through an application process, and are ready to work!
