About Come What May

Come What May is an intimate, unflinching portrait of beloved comedian Ralphie May, whose large personality and even larger size set him apart from the rest and helped skyrocket him to fame. This loving husband and father fell victim to enablers, addiction, and abuse, causing his bright light to burn out far too quickly. Featuring candid interviews with friends and family, alongside never-before-seen archival footage, what unfolds is a loving tribute to a flawed and complicated man who brought joy to millions, but pain and heartbreak to those who knew him best.

About the Guest

DAVID GANTZ (Director/Editor/SCA Alumnus)

David Gantz is a Los Angeles–based documentary editor and filmmaker. His work focuses on intimate, character-driven stories that explore identity, relationships, and the human condition. His films have screened at festivals internationally, with recent projects earning major documentary awards.

LAHNA TURNER (Director/Producer)

Lahna Turner is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, producer, and musical humorist known for her bold, witty comedy that blends stand-up with original songs and personal storytelling. She’s released comedy specials and albums like So… I Wrote a Song About It, If These Lips Could Talk, D!@k Jokes and Other Assorted Love Songs, and Limeade, and has appeared on networks including NBC, Comedy Central, Netflix, Hulu, Animal Planet, and VH1.

Turner has performed worldwide, including tours for the U.S. military, and also acts in film and TV. Her film credits include Teacher of the Year and producing the documentary What’s Eating Ralphie May? about her late husband’s life.

She was married to comedian Ralphie May from 2005 until his death in 2017, and they have two children together.

Outside the Box [Office] is a weekly showcase for upcoming releases highlighting world cinema, documentary and independent film titles. The series draws from around the globe to present movies that may challenge, inspire or simply entertain.

Check-In & Reservations

This program is open to all eligible individuals. The USC School of Cinematic Arts operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other prohibited factor.

This screening is free of charge and open to the public. A reservation confirmation will automatically be sent to your e-mail account upon successfully making an RSVP through this website. Doors will open at 6:30 P.M.

All SCA screenings are OVERBOOKED to ensure seating capacity in the theater, therefore seating is not guaranteed based on RSVPs. The RSVP list will be checked in on a first-come, first-served basis until the theater is full. Once the theater has reached capacity, we will no longer be able to admit guests, regardless of RSVP status.
