About Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass

Small town hairdresser Gail Daughtry is engaged to her devoted high school sweetheart, Tom. Her life takes a turn when a trip to a book signing leads to Tom meeting – and sleeping – with his “celebrity pass”. Reeling from the betrayal, Gail impulsively joins her friend Otto on a trip to Los Angeles, where a psychic convinces Gail that the only way to save her marriage is to “even the scales” with her own celebrity pass: Jon Hamm. Thus begins an epic journey through Tinseltown as Gail and Otto join forces with a talent agency assistant, a paparazzo, and actor John Slattery, all in the search for Hamm. Along the way, they collide with celebrities and are hunted by a group of Italian assassins as they get ever closer to finding the elusive star.

About the Guest

DAVID WAIN (Director, Writer, Producer)

David Wain is a director, writer, actor and comedian. He has directed seven feature films, the newest being the upcoming Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass starring Zoey Deutch, John Slattery and Jon Hamm. Previously he directed and co-wrote the movies Wet Hot American Summer, The Ten, Role Models, Wanderlust, A Futile and Stupid Gesture and They Came Together.

On television, he recently was executive producer and sole director and of Mr. Throwback, a comedy series starring Steph Curry, Ego Nwodim and Adam Pally on Peacock. Previously he was co-creator (with Michael Showalter) and sole director of two Netflix eight-part mini-series: Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, and Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later. He also plays the swarthy, sexy Israeli counselor “Yaron.”

He was executive producer, writer, director and frequent guest star of Childrens Hospital, Adult Swim’s hit series starring Rob Corddry, Megan Mullally, Henry Winkler and Malin Akerman. The show ran for seven seasons, winning six Emmy Awards, and spawned the epic action comedy spin-off series Medical Police.

He co-created and co-starred in two other TV series, both of which have enduring cult followings: The State (MTV) and Stella (Comedy Central). He has written and/or directed dozens other movies and TV shows such as New Girl, Party Down, Miracle Workers and several amazing—but sadly unseen—network TV pilots with collaborators such as Amy Poehler, Natasha Lyonne, Ellie Kemper and Ben Stiller.

As an actor, he’s appeared in movies and shows including Broad City, Portlandia, Superstore, New Girl, Party Down, Drunk History, Another Period, Younger, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Superjail, Fresh Off the Boat, Sex Lives of College Girls, Murderville. He is the voice of Courtney (Gene's necklace-sucking girlfriend) on Bob's Burgers.

He was an early web series pioneer with Stella Shorts, and later Wainy Days, which chronicled his (slightly) fictionalized romantic adventures. He can be seen on stage touring with both The State and the Middle Aged Dad Jam Band (which has a large and growing following on YouTube), and prepping several projects including Three Months Later, an original musical.

Wain grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio where he began his life-long hobby of magic. After graduating from NYU, he debuted his short film Aisle Six at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival. He lives in Los Angeles with his two sons.

Check-In & Reservations

This program is open to all eligible individuals. The USC School of Cinematic Arts operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. This screening is free of charge and open to the public. A reservation confirmation will automatically be sent to your e-mail account upon successfully making an RSVP through this website. Doors will open at 6:30 P.M.

All SCA screenings are OVERBOOKED to ensure seating capacity in the theater, therefore seating is not guaranteed based on RSVPs. The RSVP list will be checked in on a first-come, first-served basis until the theater is full. Once the theater has reached capacity, we will no longer be able to admit guests, regardless of RSVP status.
