This course covers how this record breaking animated film was made from pitch to creation to the ongoing developments. An exploration of the creative and business decisions, Korean cultural influences, and more. Featuring the talent and executives who made it all happen!

About Professor Gail Katz
Professor of Cinematic Arts, Division of Film & Television Production
Gail has produced feature films that have grossed $1.3 billion in box office receipts. Her films include The Perfect Storm, starring George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Diane Lane and John C. Reilly; Air Force One, starring Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman and Glenn Close; Outbreak, starring Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey and Cuba Gooding,Jr.; In the Line of Fire, starring Clint Eastwood, John Malkovich and Rene Russo; Pawn Sacrifice, starring Tobey Maguire, Liev Schreiber, Peter Sarsgaard and Michael Stulbarg; Bicentennial Man, starring Robin Williams and Sam Neill; Instinct, starring Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding; Mighty Joe Young starring Bill Paxton and Charlize Theron; and Red Corner, starring Richard Gere and Bai Ling. Her films have received 9 Academy Award nominations.
In television, Gail was the Executive Producer of The College Admissions Scandal, Executive Producer of the ABC series Cashmere Mafia, and Executive Producer of the CBS series about the CIA, The Agency. Gail received an MBA from the Yale School of Management, and a BA in both Economics and Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
Nicole (Nic) West
Visiting Professor, Chair of the John C. Hench Division of Animation + Digital Arts
Nic is an experienced entertainment professional with a passion for curating and developing inspired teams to create quality content. She is the Co-Founder and Head of Operations at West Studio, a visual development and creative production house that combines passion and process to produce some of the best concept art in the world.
Her professional path has led her to a career in creative production and studio management in a myriad of entertainment industries, including: Television Animation, Feature Animation and Video Games. She has been fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented, passionate and creative individuals at DreamWorks Television Animation and Feature Animation, Electronic Arts, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, Babel Media and Brash Entertainment.
Nic attended USC where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Comparative Literature with Honors.
