Timothy Marx is an award winning producer and director whose credits include dramatic and comedic television, feature films, documentaries, limited series and special event productions. Marx has produced for HBO, Disney, Warner Bros, CBS, ABC, TNT and PBS’s American Playhouse, among others. He recently produced the hit CBS series Young Sheldon. His television credits include the HBO series Entourage, Arli$$, and Enlightened, as well as the HBO movie Citizen X, which won the ACE Award for Best Picture and a total of ten Emmy and PGA nominations. Marx also produced the movie Smooth Talk, which won the Grand Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. He oversaw production on Aaron Sorkin's feature directing debut Molly's Game.
Other credits include: the hit Freeform series Baby Daddy, Al Pacino’s Local Stigmatic, numerous productions with Penn & Teller including their feature film Penn & Teller Get Killed, True West (with Gary Sinise and John Malcovich), Garry Trudeau’s Rap Master Ronnie, and feature films Passed Away, Rachel River and Summer Catch. Marx also co-directed and produced the American Masters profile of Helen Hayes. Additional series for television include Invasion, Justice, The Captain, Related, Bunheads and HBO comedy specials and IMAX movies. He has shot in all 50 states and around the world.
In documentaries and non-fiction Marx produced and directed the feature film Bluetopia: The LA Dodgers Movie, National Geographic expedition specials and major concert films, including Martin Lawrence: You So Crazy. In addition, Marx worked on numerous Bill Moyers’ Journals.
Marx is a speaker on seminar panels about all aspects of production. He is a member of the DGA, PGA and ATAS.
