Q. Can the application fee be waived?
The application fee to the SCA Summer Program helps cover the cost of processing and retaining application documents and unfortunately, this fee cannot be waived and is nonrefundable.

Q. Are the course units transferable to my college or university?
Yes, the units from SCA Summer Program courses are transferable as elective credits to USC and potentially to other colleges or universities. Each school decides whether to accept them, so you should contact your Academic Advisor about the process. They may request the course syllabus and your USC transcript.

Q. Are there scholarships or any financial aid available?
Unfortunately, financial aid or assistance is not offered for SCA Summer Program.

Q. Do I have to provide my own equipment?
The SCA Summer Program provides all cameras, lighting, and sound recording equipment. Depending on the course, the equipment/media quantities may vary. Students will need to bring their own laptops, along with additional equipment and software, depending on the course. Please consult our Required Equipment list for further details.

Q. Can I submit the films I make in the SCA Summer Program as a part of my college applications?
YES! You are welcome to submit your SCA Summer Program films as part of your portfolio or reel when applying to college, film schools, fellowships, jobs, etc.

You may also post your films on private or password protected sites or channels -- You Tube, Vimeo, etc. You can then you can share the link with your friends, family, and colleagues.

However, projects produced in the SCA Summer Program are designed to be class exercises and are not intended to be screen publicly. They should not be submitted to film festivals or posted to unrestricted website. SCA Summer Program Students cannot submit their Production Notebooks to the USC Archives or to SCA Office of Industry Relations and cannot use the SCA Office to Industry Relations for any support, guidance, or consultation.

Q. What is the cost of classes?

The University determines tuition based on the number of units in your desired class(es). For the current tuition rates at USC, please refer to the Tuition and Fees page on our website

To determine your base tuition cost, multiply the collective number of units from your course(s) selection by the current USC tuition rate. The unit count for each class can be found in the Course Description.

Q. Is University-owned housing available?
University-owned housing is available each summer to all SCA Summer Program students. For more general information about housing, please visit our Housing and Dining Page.

Q. Can attending The SCA Summer Program help me gain admission in USC School of Cinematic Arts or other colleges?
While enrolling in The SCA Summer Program can indicate your interest in USC School of Cinematic Arts, it does not guarantee admission. After completing The SCA Summer Program, however, you will receive college elective credits, which can be added to your application to an undergraduate or graduate program. You will also have the opportunity to gain potential letters of recommendation for college from USC SCA faculty and staff.
