About the Class
Digital Editing is an introductory course to the industry standard editing system, AVID Media Composer. The class focuses on the technique skills of storytelling using editing techniques and principles.
The class will consist of demonstrations, editing presentations that will include viewing excerpts of film and TV shows, in-class discussions, and exercise time that will involve editing scenes from material proceed by the instructor. The course stresses speed and efficiency of organizing and editing materials that is crucial to industry professionals.
Course Objectives
Students are given various editing excesses for in-class and at home assignments from professional works with the emphasis on developing editing skills such as:
- Storytelling
- Character development
- Scene rhythm
- Story arc(s)
- Structure
All necessary equipment and production resources will be available for student use including AVID editing labs and SCA Post-Production facilities.
