Spielberg on Spielberg

Drew Casper's CTCS: 469

By Stephanie Kluft

Steven Spielberg visited Dr. Drew Casper’s "Steven Spielberg" class on Wednesday, November 4.

It was a standing room only crowd at the Norris Theater and everyone’s attention was focused on the legendary director’s every word. As Dr. Casper expertly moderated the discussion and Q&A, it was obvious how much everyone was enjoying the spirited conversation.

Mr. Spielberg paused before being escorted off stage to thank the students and graciously acknowledge their importance to him saying, “Truly, we are desperately in need of all of you to be part of this industry. To make movies, to make television and to make art in mediums we haven’t yet dreamed of.

"I really feel that I’m here working for all of you and I am going to be working for all of you, because you are the whole future of this business and this university, that knows how to take talent and not subvert it and not turn it into something it was never meant to be. You couldn’t be at a better place to find out what your art is and to go out and spread the wealth to the world. So I want to thank all of you for that, I’m depending on you.”
