John Howe

Veteran Director/Instructor Passes at 81

Former production Associate Professor John Howe, who taught with SCA from 1983-1996, passed away on August 17 of natural causes at 81.

Howe, an accomplished independent director/producer and a member of the Canadian National Film Board prior to his tenure within the School of Cinematic Arts, died of natural causes at his home in New Hampshire. According to SCA Professor Emeritus Dick Harber, Howe joined the production program in 1983 and remained until 1996 where he advanced to the position of associate professor.

Howe produced 34 films, directed seven, in both English and French, and was an avid composer. He is survived by his wife Beverly and daughter Natalie.
