Nominations for SCA Diversity Awards Now Open!

Each year, the SCA Council on Diversity & Inclusion recognizes an SCA student from each academic unit for their work on issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion. The awards recognize current graduate or undergraduate students whose critical and creative efforts promote the ideals that the Council has stood for since its inception in 2015. Students’ work (including but not limited to screenwriting, film, art, media, games, essay, research, community events) should emphasize the following: equity, diversity, inclusion and an abiding appreciation for differences, including race and ethnicity, age, ability, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, body size, socioeconomic status, country of origin, veteran status, religious practice and political ideology. Students may be nominated for a specific SCA project created during their time as a student, for their body of work at USC, for their community organizing efforts at USC, or any combination therein. Please review the award guidelines for more information on the evaluation criteria.
This year students are allowed to nominate themselves, but must garner the support of a faculty or staff member who is able to speak authoritatively about how their work(s) support DEI objectives.
Nominees will be evaluated by a committee composed of Liaisons to the SCA Council on Diversity & Inclusion representing each academic unit. The committee will select a maximum of three nominees from each academic unit to make it to the final round. Each academic unit will make the final determination on the award recipient from their unit. Award recipients will receive a $400.00 stipend, be featured on SCA socials and In Motion, and be presented with a plaque and feted at an awards ceremony.
Nominations can be submitted by filling out this nomination form by February 28, 2025. For information on the SCA Council on Diversity and Inclusion, please visit us here.
