The Hollywood Foreign Press Makes Gift to SCA

In a major step forward for student support at the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA), The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has pledged a $100,000 endowment for financial aid to qualified, international students.

“We are so pleased to have the support of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,” said Dean Elizabeth M. Daley. “This inspiring gift will contribute to our goal of finding and educating the most talented young women and men, regardless of their financial situation.”

The HFPA’s annual Golden Globe Awards have enabled the non-profit organization to donate more than $15 million the past twenty years to entertainment-related charities, as well as funding scholarships and film education programs for future industry professionals. Other beneficiaries of the HFPA include the FilmAid International, American Cinematheque, and L.A.C.M.A.

HFPA President Theo Kingma, said the goal is to help organizations that value education and film preservation:  “We try every year to give as much as we can to these highly deserving organizations. It is gratifying to know that our efforts are appreciated.”

The first award will be given in 2015.
