Rhythms + Visions / Expanded + Live 2

Friday, April 26th. 8 PM to Midnight

A live audio visual performance event on the Cinematic Arts campus!

Rhythms + Visions / Expanded + Live will light up the School of Cinematic Arts Complex in an eventing of large exterior projections and animated sonic performances. Innovative artists Quayola & Sinigaglia, Miwa Matreyek and Charles Lindsay will perform an eclectic program of contemporary audio-visual art and visual music.
The exterior spaces of SCA will come alive with interactive installations and building projections created by faculty and students from USC’s Digital Arts and Animation and Interactive Media divisions.

London based Quayola & SInigaglia’s time-based digital sculptures and innovative audio visual work has been presented world-wide. Using huge projections and sound, they will perform Partitura and other animated sound visualizations.

Miwa Matreyek creates magical animated illusions in layered, mulit-projection performances. Matreyek performs as a live actor within her animations, which are akin to George Méliès or an animated storybook.

Charles Lindsay, the artist in residence at the SETI Institute will perform a new work with video artist Chen Serfaty. Their work, NEAR(ER) explores the nature of mind, memory and memes in anticipation of an omni-technological future. Charlie performs live electric cello.

The gallery includes work by established artists Matt Pyke/Universal Everything, D-Fuse, Max Hattler, Masako Tanaka, Tal Rosner, Scott Pagano, Electronic Musicion, Groundislava will open the show.
