SCA and CCC Launch The YouTube Creator Institute

The School of Cinematic Arts is the alma mater to many masters of storytelling for the big screen. This summer, a group of ten contest winners will get the opportunity to study storytelling for the small screen. On March 10, YouTube, the School of Cinematic Arts and Columbia College Chicago announced the new YouTube Creator Institute program, which will give a small group of aspiring storytellers the chance to create content for the video-sharing giant.

“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to partner with Youtube, which has played an enormous role in the ongoing evolution of media and communication in the 21st century,” said Elizabeth M. Daley, Dean of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. “We’re really looking forward to hosting and collaborating with the Institute’s inaugural group of creators.”

The YouTube-USC Creator Institute takes place from May 25 until June 22 in Los Angeles and will accept 10 students into the inaugural class. The YouTube-Columbia College Chicago Creator Institute, housed in the school’s Television Department, starts June 1 and ends on July 22 in Chicago, IL.

U.S. citizens over 18 interested in attending the summer programs can apply at www.youtube.com/creatorinstitute from now until March 25.
