Unkrich Continues Win Streak
Director of Toy Story 3 Takes Home First Oscar
SCA alumnus Lee Unkrich was humble as always as he accepted his first Oscar at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday for Toy Story 3. Unkrich won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. The film was also nominated for Best Picture.
“Every single person who had absolutely anything to do with making Toy Story 3 and getting it into the world, I share this with you,” commented Unkrich in his acceptance speech.
“I am so thrilled to see Lee’s continuing and well-deserved acclaim,” said Dean Elizabeth M. Daley. “He and the incredible team at Pixar have made Toy Story 3 a landmark film that will entertain and move audiences of every age for generations to come. I can’t wait to see what he’ll create next.”
Sunday marked Unkrich’s first Oscar win and his second nomination. Toy Story 3 was honored with a Golden Globe and an Annie award earlier this year.
Since 1973, not a year has passed without an alumnus or alumna being nominated for an Oscar.
