KAREY KIRKPATRICK, an alum of the USC School of Cinema (class of '88), began his career as a screen and songwriter for Disney Animation where he penned The Rescuers Down Under and James and the Giant Peach. With over a dozen films produced, other screenplay credits include Chicken RunCharlotte’s Web, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Over The Hedge, and Smallfoot — the latter two he also directed. In 2009, he directed the Paramount Pictures film Imagine That starring Eddie Murphy. He co-wrote the book, music and lyrics for the 2015 Broadway musical SOMETHING ROTTEN (Tony and Grammy nominations) and most recently co-wrote book, music and lyrics for MRS. DOUBTFIRE which opened on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theater on Dec 5, 2021.
