Kathleen Dowdey is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in SCA Film and Television Production Division; she teaches and coordinates CTPR 409, Practicum in Television Production and CTPR 404, Practicum in Podcast Production, a required course for the new USC Podcasting Minor. She is also the Program Director for Trojan Vision, USC’s official campus television station.
As a writer and director in long form documentary and nonfiction television, she has numerous credits on NBC, CBS, PBS, Turner Broadcasting, TLC, HGTV, A&E, Discovery Channel and The History Channel. For five seasons she was a director (DGA) on the Emmy award-winning talk show, Dr. Phil for CBS/Paramount. An accomplished filmmaker with feature narrative and documentary credits, she produced and directed the first biography of legendary civil rights leader, John Lewis: Get in the Way, featured on primetime PBS. Kathleen is a member of the Directors Guild of America, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the International Documentary Association.
