Nicole Jefferson Asher began her artistic journey studying at the world famous Dance Theater of Harlem in her teens.  Later, she majored in Theater as an undergrad at U.C. Nicole served as staff writer on the Nickelodeon musical TV series Taina and then as story producer on Interscope Presents: The Next Episode, a hip-hop docudrama from Showtime.  She has also written episodes for the animated children’s program, ToddWorld on Discovery Kids.

Ms. Asher was proud to have participated in the Fox Writer’s Intensive with Bitches Brew, a feature length biopic about rock singer/songwriter Betty Davis that chronicles her brief, mercurial, musical marriage to legendary jazz icon Miles Davis. Nicole also co-wrote Lifetime Network’s January 2016 release, Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart, which was a ratings hit.   Her screenplay Love Beats Rhymes, directed by legendary hip-hop icon RZA, also produced by Lionsgate, is slated for a December 2017 release.  Love Beats Rhymes stars Azealia Banks, Common, Jill Scott and Lorraine Toussaint.

Most recently, Nicole completed a biopic based on Harlem's most notorious female gangster, Stephanie St. Clair, with Tim Story attached to direct, for HBO.  Her next project is a limited series for Netflix about Madame CJ Walker starring Octavia Spencer in the title role.
