Tim Kirkman received Emmy, Gotham, GLAAD and Independent Spirit Award nominations for his first feature film, the first-person documentary feature, DEAR JESSE. DEAR JESSE was also named Best Documentary of the Year by the Boston Society of Film Critics and won the Audience Award at Frameline. His second directorial effort was the filmed adaptation of David Drake’s solo show, THE NIGHT LARRY KRAMER KISSED ME. His third feature, LOGGERHEADS, which he wrote and directed, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Grand Jury Prize at OutFest for Best Dramatic Feature, as well as numerous other awards including Best Screenplay at the Madrid LGBT International Film Festival. LOGGERHEADS was distributed theatrically by Strand Releasing and was subsequently seen on Sundance Channel. Most recently, Tim wrote, directed and produced LAZY EYE, a feature, which was released in theaters, DVD and VOD after playing in over 30 festivals around the world. Tim also directed 2ND SERVE, a comedy feature written by James Markert. In addition to his film work, Tim also directs commercials, music videos, and industrial spots and has taught at the University of Southern California's (now defunct) Master of Professional Writing Program, Hunter College in New York City, and at Vermont College of Fine Arts. A native of North Carolina, Tim lives in Los Angeles.
