Gabrielle is one of few women working in the new field of virtual production, where she is using her computer science skill set to revolutionize the film industry. She has worked with Oscar-winning filmmakers, pioneered the virtual human industry at the Sequoia-backed startup Brud (where she helped develop one of the world’s most famous virtual humans, Miquela), worked as a main virtual production operator and technical artist on the world’s largest LED volume for a Netflix's Avatar the Last Airbender, and works as a Virtual Production Lead at The Third Floor.
Gabrielle Roberts studied Film & Television Production and Computer Science at the University of Southern California and received a Master of Management Science in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University as a Schwarzman Scholar. She also studied machine learning at Oxford University and has had her ML research published through IEEE.
Gabrielle received the Princess Diana Award as founder of the international nonprofit Code Your Chances for her work to bring creative computer science to students of all backgrounds. She seeks to champion women in tech through her film work as a writer and director and is proud her upcoming film is funded by M&Ms and the Geena Davis Institute for Media in Gender.
