Jay New

Adjunct Instructor

Jay New is a young director whose  short films have screened nationally and internationally at festivals such as Cannes and Beijing; he’s also won a number of awards for his fiction and nonfiction work.

He has a passionate parallel interest in film teaching, and first went in front of a class as an instructor in  2004, and has taught at the university level for the past five years at USC. He is passionately committed  to ensuring parity in media access and has taught in Obama's My Brother's Keeper program, and Inner-City Filmmakers Workshop, including a directing intensive alongside Damien Chazelle.

An ongoing investigation centers around combining and consulting with the scientific community on advancing our understanding of aesthetics.
