About Ironheart


Set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel Television’s Ironheart pits technology against magic when Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne)—a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins aka “The Hood” (Anthony Ramos).

The series also stars Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam and Anji White. Chinaka Hodge is head writer; episodes are directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. Executive producers include Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Zoie Nagelhout, Chinaka Hodge, Ryan Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler.

About the Guests


CHINAKA HODGE (Executive Producer, Head Writer)

An accomplished poet, educator and screenwriter Chinaka Hodge is Executive Producer of Marvel’s highly anticipated series, IRONHEART, which is set to premiere this June, and is a Co-Executive Producer on Dan Fogelman’s upcoming UNT. NFL PROJECT. Recently, she staffed on MGM & Michael B. Jordan’s CREED series, for Amazon.

Throughout her career, Hodge has worked with many notable talents, such as Steven Spielberg, Jason Katims, and Ryan Coogler. A touring slam poet, well-known for her Tedx Talk, which has over a million views, her profound poetry was highlighted at the 2024 Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony.

In features, she is currently developing an animated Afro-steampunk coming of age story HOUSE OF THEY at Dreamworks in collaboration with Tommy Kail, Daveed Diggs and Justin Simien. She also developed OIL & MARBLE for Pioneer Pictures, a hip-hop infused reimagining of the feud between Michelangelo & DaVinci. Chinaka also wrote WATTSTAX for Focus Features, a musical historical project with Will Packer and Josh McLaughlin producing.

Chinaka interviews people in front of live audiences. Her interviewees include Gloria Steinem, Common, Boots Riley, Ibthihaj Muhammad, Tarana Burke and Janet Mock. Chinaka has appeared on NPR and CNN, and is a 2013 Sundance Feature Film Lab fellow. She is on the Advisory Board at The Marin Headlands Center for the Arts. She’s a 2022 Kennedy Center 100 honoree. She is the inaugural Nike Dream Creative Artist-in-residence. Her proudest accomplishment is being mother to her brilliant 4 year old.

ZOIE NAGELHOUT (Executive Producer, SCA Alumna)

Zoie Nagelhout is a VP of Production and Development at Marvel Studios. Her latest endeavor is as Executive Producer on the much anticipated Disney+ series, Ironheart which will solidify Riri Williams’ place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Prior to this project, Zoie was Co-Executive Producer on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the 6-episode limited series starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes.

Nagelhout was the Production & Development Executive on Eternals, which introduced a new band of heroes and exciting new worlds to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Prior to that, she served as the Manager of Production and Development on Black Panther, which went on to have great success worldwide both critically and with fans, becoming the first and only Marvel Studios film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.

Nagelhout received a Bachelor’s degree in Critical Studies from the University of Southern California Film School and resides in Culver City, CA.

Outside the Box [Office] is a weekly showcase for upcoming releases highlighting world cinema, documentary and independent film titles. The series draws from around the globe to present movies that may challenge, inspire or simply entertain.

Check-In & Reservations


This program is open to all eligible individuals. The USC School of Cinematic Arts operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. THIS SCREENING IS OPEN EXCLUSIVELY TO USC STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF and ALUMNI. A reservation confirmation will automatically be sent to your e-mail account upon successfully making an RSVP through this website. Doors will open at 6:30 P.M.

All SCA screenings are OVERBOOKED to ensure seating capacity in the theater, therefore seating is not guaranteed based on RSVPs. The RSVP list will be checked in on a first-come, first-served basis until the theater is full. Once the theater has reached capacity, we will no longer be able to admit guests, regardless of RSVP status.
