About The Teachers' Lounge
When Carla Nowak, a dedicated sports and math teacher, starts her first job at a high school, she stands out for her idealism. When a series of thefts occur at the school and one of her students is suspected, she decides to investigate the matter on her own. Carla tries to mediate between outraged parents, opinionated colleagues and aggressive students, but is relentlessly confronted with the rigid structures of the school system. The more desperately she tries to do everything right, the more the young teacher threatens to break. This gripping drama about conformity, racism, and rebellion – Germany’s entry into the Oscars – is an incisive look at the rapidly shifting power dynamics and complex search for truth in contemporary society.

About the European Parliament LUX Audience Award
"LUX - The European Audience Film Award (short: LUX Audience Award)" by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy (EFA) demonstrates the European Parliament’s, (the European Union's directly elected legislative assembly), commitment to culture. The initiative promotes European cultural diversity and provides a tangible support to cinema and the arts using films that go to the heart of the European public debate.
The LUX Audience Award is built on the previous LUX Prize, the film prize of the European Parliament established in 2007, and on the EFA’s People’s Choice Award, introduced in 1997. Films nominated for the award are publicly unveiled at the European Film Awards ceremony in December. The audience and the Members of the European Parliament are then invited to cast their votes online with the film receiving the overall highest ranking from the public and the EU lawmakers, with each group weighing 50 per cent, becoming the winner of the LUX Audience Award. The winner is announced at an award ceremony in the European Parliament, in June.
The LUX Audience Award, just as the LUX prize, is a quality indicator for backing European film productions. The initiative gives the nominated films more visibility and helps them cross borders and reach a wider audience.

About the European Parliament Liaison Office in Washington D.C.
The European Parliament Liaison Office in Washington D.C. (EPLO) is the US office of the European Parliament responsible for developing relationships between the US Congress and the European Parliament on issues calling for trans-Atlantic legislative and political cooperation.
