About Watershed

What if the adversities of life aren’t simply meant to be overcome, but rather, to be embraced? What if our watershed moments aren't all defining, but instead, turning points that can reveal the inherent strength that exists within each and every one of us? Watershed chronicles the incredible story of Mallory Weggemann, who’s on a quest to answer these very questions.

Paralyzed at the age of 18, Weggemann found refuge in the pool as a swimmer and has gone on to win seven Paralympic medals. Now, she’s not only looking to reclaim her spot on the podium, but she’s trying to become a mother as well.

In Watershed, which was self-documented by Weggemann and her husband Jay Snyder, Weggemann is training for the Tokyo Paralympics during the challenges of COVID-19. Battling an additional injury to her arm, her athletic career is in question. Against the backdrop of this existential crossroads, Weggemann and Snyder bravely share their struggles with infertility and the importance of IVF as the couple pulls back the curtain on their journey to start a family.

In this deeply personal and inspiring film, Weggemann reminds us that trauma and tragedy not only change how we are perceived by society, but how we in fact perceive ourselves. And that if we’re brave enough, we too can write our own ending.

About the Guests

MALLORY WEGGEMAN & JAY SNYDER (Director/Producers)

Mallory and Jay are co-CEOs and co-founders of TFA Group, a social impact agency and production studio where they have served as producers, writers and directors on projects ranging from branded content to documentaries.

Mallory is a multi-time American and World record holder, ESPN ESPY award recipient and 7-time Paralympic medalist. In addition to her athletic career Mallory has served as on-air reporter and host with NBC for the 2018 PyeongChang and 2022 Beijing Paralympic Games. In 2021 she released her memoir, LIMITLESS and has built a career as a motivational speaker.

Jay has a storied career in the sports industry, starting in market research at the NBA prior to his transitioning to athlete representation. Through his personal passion for sport and his professional career in working with brands he has seen first hand the power sport holds to transcend the field of play.

It is through their unique personal perceptive and shared passion that they have built TFA Group. A husband and wife duo who are utilizing their passion to fuel their purpose - creating greater representation for individuals with disabilities.  or the two of them, it is personal - Mallory, paralyzed at the age of 18 and Jay taking witness to the inequities that still exist today for the disability community. They have merged their passion for sport and storytelling to drive the conversation forward.

At the core of it, they are intimately aware that we as society form our perceptions based upon our experiences and surroundings and when one of the largest minority demographics is left out of the conversation it fuels inequity for the disability community in our society. Their answer, authentic storytelling in the entertainment industry. Their craft, changing the narrative of how we tell stories of disability.
