About Encanto

Walt Disney Animation Studios' Encanto tells the tale of the Madrigals, an extraordinary family who live in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. Each child has been blessed with a magic gift unique to them—each child except Mirabel. But when the family’s home is threatened, Mirabel may be their only hope.

The voice cast includes Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel; María Cecilia Botero as Mirabel’s grandmother Alma aka Abuela; John Leguizamo as Bruno; Angie Cepeda and Wilmer Valderrama as Mirabel’s parents, Julieta and Agustín; and Diane Guererro and Jessica Darrow as Mirabel’s sisters, Isabela and Luisa. Also lending their voices are Carolina Gaitán and Mauro Castillo as Mirabel’s aunt and uncle, Pepa and Félix; and Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz and Ravi Cabot-Conyers as Mirabel’s cousins Dolores, Camilo and Antonio, respectively.

The film features all-new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “Moana”) and is directed by Byron Howard (“Zootopia,” “Tangled”) and Jared Bush (co-director “Zootopia”), co-directed by Charise Castro Smith (writer “The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez”) and produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino. Bush and Castro Smith are screenwriters on the film.

About the USC Latinx Student Assembly (LSA)

LSA is a programming assembly under USG that hosts social, educational, and professional events aimed to connect the Latinx community on campus. Our goal is to create a welcoming space for our group of marginalized students to interact and share their experiences.

About the USC Latinx Film and Media Association (LatiFAM)

The Latinx Film and Media Association (LatiFAM) aims to empower Latinx filmmakers and those interested in Latinx film by hosting monthly events to promote community and pride. LatiFAM monthly events will include a mix of guest speakers, screenings, and workshops, all to help students within our club to network, find new opportunities, and hone their craft. Through our shared love of Latinx culture and media, we hope all new members feel free to join us in this new familia and attend our upcoming programs. This club is not limited to film majors and is open to anyone interested in Latinx film and media.

About Outside the Box [Office]

Outside the Box [Office] is a weekly showcase for upcoming releases highlighting world cinema, documentary and independent film titles. The series draws from around the globe to present movies that may challenge, inspire or simply entertain.
