This Spring 2021 semester, the School of Cinematic Arts will offer a very special course called CTCS-466: Theatrical Film Symposium, a four-unit elective class open for enrollment to ALL USC STUDENTS OF ANY MAJOR that brings you face-to-face with leading film directors, writers, producers, and actors working today. Each week, students will have exclusive Q&As online with the creative teams behind the films being released in Spring 2021. The class is taught by film critic LEONARD MALTIN and meets every Thursday night online from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. on Zoom.

Fall 2020 Movies included: Project Power, Lingua Franca, All Together Now, I'm Thinking of Ending Things, Boys State, Residue, The Devil All the Time, Dick Johnson is Dead, Charm City Kings, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Jungleland, Over the Moon, Farewell Amor, and Run.

About Professor Leonard Maltin

Leonard Maltin is one of the country’s most respected film historians. After establishing himself with a series of definitive books, including the annual paperback reference Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide, he became known to an even wider audience as the film critic and historian on the television show Entertainment Tonight, where he worked for thirty years. He currently hosts the weekly program Maltin on Movies for ReelzChannel and introduces movies on Comcast. His books include Of Mice and Magic: A History of American Animated Cartoons, The 151 Best Movies You’ve Never Seen, The Great Movie Comedians, The Disney Films, The Art of the Cinematographer, Movie Comedy Teams, The Great American Broadcast, Leonard Maltin’s Classic Movie Guide and Leonard Maltin’s Movie Encyclopedia.

He served two terms as President of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and was appointed by the Librarian of Congress to sit on the Board of Directors of the National Film Preservation Foundation. He wrote, co-produced and hosted the popular Walt Disney Treasures DVD series, and has appeared on numerous television programs and documentaries.
