About Social Animals

Zoe Crandle’s life didn’t exactly turn out the way she planned. She’s facing eviction, her business is going under and she is resigned to a life of one-night stands. Just when it seems her whole world is unraveling, she meets Paul, a fellow loveable loser, and the pair have an instant connection. There’s only one problem, Paul is married. With help from her best friend, Zoe devises a plan to save her business and salvage her love life.

An honest, uncompromising comedy of modern relationships, Social Animals stars Noël Wells, Josh Radnor, Aya Cash, Carly Chaikin, Fortune Feimster and Samira Wiley.

About the Guest

THERESA BENNETT (Writer/Director)

Theresa Bennett was named as one of the "next generation of female screenwriters” by IndieWire in 2014. Her work has been featured on the Tracking Board's "Hit List" and she was also one of their "Young And Hungry," writers in 2015.

Theresa's first feature screenplay, PETUNIA stars Brittany Snow, Christine Lahti, Thora Birch and Eddie Kaye Thomas. Her second feature as a screenwriter, SOCIAL ANIMALS a/k/a F*UCKING PEOPLE, a comedic love story set in a rapidly gentrifying Austin, TX is also her directorial debut. The film, set to be released in 2018, is produced by Mason Novick and Michelle Knudsen (Juno, 500 Days of Summer), and stars Josh Radnor, Noel Wells, Aya Cash, Samira Wiley and Carly Chaikin.

Having began her career in unscripted programming, Theresa has field and story produced over 100 shows. Her main objective was to interview thousands of people around the country about their every day lives. This is what effectively transformed her as a filmmaker, listening to stories, especially those from a female perspective and truly hearing them. One of Theresa's main priorities in film and television (as a writer, director and producer) is to tell women's stories in an honest and original voice, to create complex and rich female characters that represent more than just one type of character.

Theresa is currently writing her next feature film, SHIVER, a genre horror/thriller, and is attached to direct Votiv Films’ coming of age drama, ONE FLEW AWAY.
