Mark Shepherd has written several feature-length scripts for major studios and independent producers. He co-wrote Ground Control (ABC 2000) starring Kiefer Sutherland and Kelly McGillis. His other works include Emerald City and Silk Road. At USC, where he earned an M.F.A. in screenwriting, Shepherd teaches graduate students the basics of dramatic screenwriting, as well as advanced feature-length writing. 

Shepherd has extensive experience on production crews on feature films, as well as serving as an assistant director/crew chief at the Sundance Film Lab. In 2005, he co-created the Kentucky Film Lab, a non-profit film production and writing educational institute.

A Kansas City native, where he worked as a newspaper reporter and editor, he also holds a degree from the Missouri School of Journalism. Shepherd is married with three children and lives in Santa Monica.
