Tapan Gandhi, BA (Animation)

Tapan Gandhi is an Annie Award nominated Character Designer with over 13 years of experience in the Los Angeles animation industry. Having worked for such studios as Walt Disney Animation Studios, Six Point Harness, Disney TV Animation, Netflix, and Warner Bros., Tapan is currently a character designer at Cartoon Network on their first preschool show "Jessica's Big Little World", a spinoff of the popular series "Craig of the Creek." A Toronto native, Tapan graduated from Sheridan College in 2009 and moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his career in the fall of the same year. In 2010, Tapan was selected to be an apprentice rough animator/clean-up artist on Disney Animation's final traditionally animated feature, "Winnie the Pooh". In 2016, Tapan was nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Character Design in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production at the 43rd Annie Awards for the series "Pickle and Peanut" which was his first Lead Character Design position. Since then, he has been a character designer for multiple shows across several studios including "DuckTales" at Disney TV Animation and "The Cuphead Show!" at Netflix Animation. Prior to joining Cartoon Network, Tapan was the Lead Character Designer on "Boons and Curses", a shelved project at Netflix that celebrated the rich mythology and fantasty elements of ancient South Asian folklore. Tapan lives in Burbank CA with his husband Jason and enjoys kayaking, hiking, and eating exotic fruits in his spare time.
