Don Bohlinger is an award winning screenwriter who has had twenty-five of his screenplays produced around the world. His feature films, television movies and miniseries have won or been nominated for a more than forty international awards. Two of his feature films, Elles (Women) from Portugal and Das Experiment (The Experiment) from Germany were their countries’ entry for the 71st and 74th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Film. Das Experiment won Germany’s prestigious Bavarian Film Award for Best Screenplay in 2000. His miniseries adaptation of Henning Mankell’s novel, Return of the Dancing Master, won the Romy Award for best television movie in 2004, while another miniseries, Judgment Day, was nominated for both the German Emmy and Adolf Grimme Award for best television movie of 2008.
In addition to his twenty plus years teaching all levels of screenwriting at USC, Professor Bohlinger is a sought-after lecturer and seminar instructor who has inspired professional screenwriters throughout the world. Professor Bohlinger is also a consultant and script doctor who has worked closely with international writers, directors and producers on many award winning feature films.
Professor Bohlinger received his B.A. in English from the University of Notre Dame and his M.A. in Film from Columbia University.
