Yong Duk Jhun is a Director at Nickelodeon Animation. Previously he worked at Sony Pictures Animation, Blue Sky Studios(20 Century Fox) and DreamWorks Animation. While he was at Sony Pictures Animation, he was a Head of Cinematography - Layout on Vivo. Yong Duk Jhun also worked at DreamWorks Animation as a Head of Layout for 14 years. He supervised the previs/layout team of Kung Fu Panda (2008), Shrek Forever After (2010), The Croods (2013), B.O.O (in development, DreamWorks) and Trolls (2016). Yong Duk Jhun also worked at Blue Sky Studios as a Co_Director and Layout Consultant.  His work is closely related to what a cinematographer does in the live action film industry; telling the story through the camera. In addition to being the head of layout he also worked on a few different DreamWorks projects as a layout artist, Monster vs Aliens, Kung Fu Panda 3, Over the Hedge and Father of the Pride (TV Episodes, 2004, DreamWorks). Yong Duk Jhun used his cultural background to inspire and influence the cinematography of Kung Fu Panda. The result created one of the most inspiring films of the year. Kung Fu Panda received 15 Annie Awards and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2008. After Kung Fu Panda, Yong Duk quickly joined the production of Shrek Forever After (2010) as the head of layout to supervise the 3D (stereoscopic) film using cutting edge 3D technology from DreamWorks. Another of his film was The Croods (2013). Also an Academy Awards nominee for the Best Animated Feature Film. Here Yong Duk Jhun collaborated with Roger Deakins, ASC to enhance the visual storytelling to the next level. He pulled from the perspective of the stylized documentary, a feat which has never been done at the studio. The cinematography of the film supported the organic and realistic feel of the film and delivered the precise balance of comedy and action.  Yong Duk Jhun has been a member of the Academy since 2016.
