Evan Hughes is an instructor in the Division of Media Arts + Practice. His current classes, The Web, Digital Media and Creative Culture and Race, Class and Gender in Digital Culture, take a hands on approach in which students use the tools of technology to produce scholarly arguments that explore the expressive modes of digital media and examine issues of identity in 21st century citizenship. Evan has worked with faculty across USC to help implement media projects into the curricula of various departments and he currently is working on a similar initiative with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) K-12 teachers.

Evan has presented his doctoral research on electronic music and DJ culture at the UCSC Digital Intermediaries Symposium and the Digital Studies Symposium at Northwestern University. His current research interests emphasize the intersections of race, sexuality, the body, and digital media.
