Ken LaZebnik writes for television, film and theater. His most recent play, On The Spectrum, premiered in November 2011 at Mixed Blood Theatre of Minneapolis and won a citation from the American Theater Critics Association as one of the three best new plays produced outside of New York. It was produced in Los Angeles at The Fountain Theatre in March of 2013. For television, LaZebnik is currently writing for When Calls the Heart, which will premiere on the Hallmark Channel in 2014. His screenplays include Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Cottage, a Lionsgate film starring Peter O'Toole and Marcia Gay Harden. He shares story credit with Garrison Keillor for Prairie Home Companion, Robert Altman's last movie. In addition, he wrote for the Prairie Home Companion radio show for many years. He's written for many television dramas, including Army Wives, Star Trek: Enterprise, and Providence, and he was a writer/producer for seven seasons on the long-running hit Touched By An Angel. His plays have been produced in Minneapolis, New York and Los Angeles. His play, Vestibular Sense, was honored at the 2007 Humana Festival in Louisville. His play, Theory of Mind, was commissioned by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and was performed in Hawaii and Michigan. He’s currently writing another play for the Mixed Blood Theatre Company of Minneapolis. For two years, he served as Dean of the School of Performing Arts at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.
