Stu Pollard, MFA
Division of Film & Television Production
A native of Louisville, Stu has been making films longer than he cares to admit. He has directed two indies (Nice Guys Sleep Alone and Keep Your Distance) and produced a dozen others in whole or part, including Ira & Abby, True Adolescents, Pilgrim Song, and Dirty Country.
Stu's films have screened at festivals such as Sundance, LAFF, SXSW and US Comedy Arts, and gone on to be acquired by the likes of Magnolia Pictures, Netflix, HBO, Showtime and Gravitas Ventures. He takes great pride in having helped played a role in launching the careers of directors such as Martha Stevens, Craig Johnson and Kyle Alvarez, and having worked with actors such as Mark Duplass, Melissa Leo, Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm, Vanessa Marcil, Gil Bellows, Christian Kane, Elizabeth Peña and Stacy Keach.
He also teaches at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and Film Independent. His blog post for FIND on starting a production company was their #1 read post of 2014 and remains in the top ten to this day.
Stu holds degrees in business from Georgetown and film from USC. He is a member of the PGA, DGA, Georgetown's Alumni Board of Governors, and is the chair of the Louisville Film Society. He enjoys good Kentucky bourbon, college basketball, and hiking, and you'll usually find him in Santa Monica, Louisville, or on an airplane.
