Call for Pitches: Ganek Immersive Studio

Submit your idea for an immersive project!

Hello SCA Students!

Interested in the most immersive forms of storytelling? The Ganek Immersive Studio is seeking students who are interested and inspired by new forms of storytelling, with the passion to make their ideas a reality.

The Ganek Immersive Studio (SCI 310) is SCA’s creative studio for immersive media (virtual reality, augmented reality, and immersive installations). Our studio is seeking pitches for projects intended for the Apple Vision Pro which will be produced during this upcoming 2026-27 school year. We support a wide range of project types – including live-action films, animated films, and real-time game engine-based projects – and provide resources, support, and supplemental budgets in order to make your projects a reality.

Projects are intended for our annual Ganek Immersive Showcase in April, and can be completed anytime before April 15th, 2027. We will work with you to develop your project in pre-production, plan your production timeline, learn the tools and techniques for producing immersive media, and support you through the production and post-production of your immersive project. We strongly encourage you to email immersive@cinema.usc.edu to workshop your project idea with the studio prior to the submission deadline.

This year, we are also providing a couple prompts that may help you develop a project idea. You may submit a fully original idea, but we will also be seeking projects that are based on these two prompts.

Documentary – Profile of a Person or Place
An immersive documentary about a person or a place that is meaningful to you. Can be live-action, animated, or a real-time interactive project. Less than 12 minutes.

Public Domain Adaptation
An adaptation of an existing, public domain work. This could be a short story, a one-act play, a chapter from a novel, a single dramatic scene/scenario, or a number of other options. Less than 12 minutes.

To submit your project proposal, you will need:

  • A project deck
  • A project treatment
  • A list of your core creative team
  • Proposed schedule/timeline of project
