The SCA Summer Program offers a safe, immersive residential experience designed to support our filmmakers as you begin your cinematic journey at USC. USC on-campus housing is available for any SCA Summer Program students who would like to live on campus during the Program.

Please note that housing costs, meals, and gym membership are billed separately and are NOT included in the student tuition.

If you apply for USC Housing, your Housing bill will be available in your USC account in the beginning of June. The email notification of your Billing Statement availability will only be sent to your student USC email address.

All tuition and housing fees must be paid in full by June 11 in order to secure your enrollment in the Program and to guarantee your housing assignment.

Failure to submit your tuition and housing payment by the June 11 deadline will result in finance charges being applied to your account and could jeopardize your standing at USC SCA. The University currently assesses a monthly finance charge on all past-due balances. The current annual rate is 12 percent, subject to change.

If your tuition and housing bills are not paid by June 11, you will not be allowed to attend any classes in the SCA Summer Program or move in to the dorm.

Please read the following carefully as the procedures differ for Pre-College Students (16 & 17 years old) and students over the age of 18.

Housing for Adult Students (18 and older)

• You must be 18 years old by June 25 of the year you are applying to be eligible for Adult Housing.
• If you turn 18 after June 25, you will automatically be considered a Pre-College student, and you must apply for Pre-College housing.

The housing brochure and application are available for Adult SCA Summer Program students starting March 1.

Adult students may choose from the USC dorms that are listed on the USC Housing application. Because of its prime location in the USC Village and its closeness to the SCA Cinema complex, we highly recommend staying in the Cale and Irani dorms.

Housing for Pre-College Students (16 & 17 years old)

Elgibility

• Students must turn 16 before June 25 of the year they plan to attend the Program in order to be eligible to attend the Program and live in USC Pre-College Housing.
• Students who turn 18 before June 25 of the year they plan to attend the Program, you will automatically be considered an Adult Student must apply for Adult Housing.
• The Pre-College Housing application will be emailed to all PreCollege Students starting on April 1. If you do not receive the email with your application link by April 15, please contact us at: summer@cinema.usc.edu
• Roommate assignments are gender-specific, based on the gender identification submitted on the housing application.
• Housing assignments for Pre-College students will be provided on Move-In Day.

Room Assignments

McCarthy Honors College

Pre-College students (ages 16 &17) live in the beautiful McCarthy Honors Residential College, USC's modern residential community located in the heart of the USC Village just a three-minute walk from the SCA Cinema Complex:

Each student will live in a comfortable, suite-style dorm that includes:

• Multi-room, air-conditioned suites
• Two students per bedroom
• One or two shared bathrooms per suite
• Twin XL beds
• Microwave and mini-refrigerator in each room
• Laundry facilities on every floor

Linens & Weekly Service

A Twin XL linen package is provided for all students, including:

• Pillow and pillowcase
• Fitted and flat sheets
• Blanket
• Two bath towels and one facecloth
• Linens are laundered weekly by the USC Housing staff.

Supervision & Safety

• In accordance with USC Office of Youth Protection policies, one Resident Assistant (RA) is assigned to supervise every seven students.
• Room checks are performed by RAs on a nightly basis to ensure the safety and well being of every student.
• In addition to RAs, the SCA Summer Program assigns at least one Residential Faculty Member to live on each floor of the dorm.
• RAs and Residential Faculty Members provide 24/7 supervision and support withinthe residence halls.

Campus Departure & Sign-Out Policies for Pre-College Students

• Pre-College students wishing to leave campus must submit an Off-Campus Leave Request Form to SCA Summer Program Administration at least 48 hours in advance.
• Pre-College students must be picked up and accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or a guardian officially designated by the parent.
• Pre-College students must sign out with the RA on duty before leaving and sign back in upon return.
• Pre-College students may not leave campus alone.
• Use of public transportation or rideshare services (Uber, Lyft, Waymo, etc.) is not permitted unless the student is accompanied by an approved adult designated by the parent.

Curfew & Evening Policies for Pre-College Students

• Pre-College students must be inside their McCarthy Residential Hall by 10 p.m. every night, including weekends.
• Pre-College students must be inside their assigned room by 10:30 p.m. every night, including weekends.

Campus & Neighborhood Access

• Pre-College Students may access academic facilities on the University Park Campus.
• For safety reasons, Pre-College students must remain within the designated campus boundary.
• Please consult the USC SCA Summer Program Campus Boundary Map for the specifics of the Pre-College perimeter.
  
• Approved off-campus destinations include select shopping areas within a 10- minute walk, such as:
• University Village
• University Gateway
• Tuscany Plaza

• Single-room accommodations are prioritized for students with documented medical or physical needs. Students requesting these accommodations must submit appropriate documentation before completing the housing application to:

NOTE: THE MOVE-OUT DATE IS THE LAST POSSIBLE DATE FOR YOU TO LEAVE THE USC DORMS. NO EXCEPTIONS ARE ALLOWED.

*This deposit covers any property damages and/or violations of the USC Code of Conduct that you may cause while living in the dorms. Please note that if you have any other outstanding damages on your USC Account, a portion of this deposit may be applied to the other charges. If you have not caused any damages or violated the USC Code of Conduct while in the dorms and do not have any other outstanding changes on your account, the full security deposit will be returned to you.
