About the Class
 
This digital editing class uses the Avid Media Composer system to open new doors of post-production creativity. It will take you from basic through advanced editing techniques and principles with the support of movie excerpts in both standard and high definition formats. The course stresses speed and efficiency of organizing and editing materials.
 
Students will edit professional projects such as scenes from the television show “ER” for their in-class exercises. The course will also focus on the art of editing including:
 
  • Story Telling
  • Character Development
  • Rhythm
  • Story Arc
  • Structure
As part of this course, students also get an opportunity to talk to industry professionals to better understand all the things a new filmmaker should know about editing including:
 
  • Color Correction
  • HD Formats
  • Telecine 
All necessary equipment and production resources will be available for student use, including:
 
  • AVID editing labs
  • Access to our Cinema Film Library (with over 13,000 films)
  • Computer labs
*All projects are created outside of scheduled class time.*
