I'm Elizabeth Daley and I want to welcome you to the School of Cinematic Arts.
At the school we are committed to exploring the power and potential of film, television and new media through both scholarship and creative work. Throughout human history, great stories have bound people together. Our narratives, be they fiction or documentary, tell us who we are and what we value. With them we transmit knowledge, wisdom and dreams from generation to generation. As humans we love to play, to share and to find ways to connect with one another. Games and interactive media, like film and television, are fundamental to us.
Since its founding in 1929, the school has been a place where dreams become reality. Where students and faculty can study media, create it and contribute to its development. From the moment you arrive in Los Angeles, you will be immersed in the latest methodologies and technologies for making all forms of media, as well as in the history and the critical knowledge that anchor the art form.
The core philosophy of the school is the melding of theory and practice at every level and in every class. The breadth and depth of the school's environment will challenge you to draw both from the world within you and the world around you. In doing so, you will hone your vision and your voice. I very much look forward to seeing the results.
