While an undergraduate at Michigan State University, Jack Epps, Jr., wrote and directed several award-winning short films, one of which was later made into an NBC Movie of the Week. On arriving in California, Epps wrote for several television shows including Hawaii 5-0 and Kojak.  With his partner Jim Cash, Epps has authored over 25 screenplays and has eight produced motion pictures including Top Gun, Legal Eagles, The Secret of My Success, Dick Tracy, Turner and Hooch and Anaconda. Epps has written for Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Robert Redford, John Voight, Al Pacino, Debra Winger, Dustin Hoffman and Michael J. Fox. He also worked with such luminaries as Ivan Reitman, Jerry Bruckheimer, Joel Silver, Herb Ross, Tony Scott and Dick Donner.

Epps is the recipient of the Michigan State University Lifetime Achievement Award. He is an active member of the Writer’s Guild of America(west), and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
