About Oldboy

Oh Dae-su is mysteriously abducted and imprisoned in a private room for 15 years without explanation. Upon his sudden release, he begins a desperate search for the person responsible and the reason behind his confinement. As he follows a trail of clues, he encounters Lee Woo-jin, a mysterious figure who holds the key to a devastating secret from his past.

One of the defining works of director Park Chan-wook’s celebrated filmography, Oldboy exemplifies his distinctive cinematic language—where visceral violence, psychological complexity and darkly poetic imagery collide. Known for exploring obsession, revenge, guilt and the moral ambiguity of human desire, Park transforms genre conventions into deeply stylized and emotionally unsettling examinations of the human condition.

YOO JI-TAE is an acclaimed Korean actor and filmmaker recognized internationally for performances in One Fine Spring Day, Oldboy, Ditto, The Swindlers and Money. His work moves between intimate drama, thriller, action and television, and he has also directed films including Mai Ratima and Talk to Her.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. The USC School of Cinematic Arts operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. This screening is free of charge and open to the public. A reservation confirmation will automatically be sent to your e-mail account upon successfully making an RSVP through this website. Doors will open at 6:30 P.M.

All SCA screenings are OVERBOOKED to ensure seating capacity in the theater, therefore seating is not guaranteed based on RSVPs. The RSVP list will be checked in on a first-come, first-served basis until the theater is full. Once the theater has reached capacity, we will no longer be able to admit guests, regardless of RSVP status.
