About Three Colors: Pan-African

Inspired by Krzystof Kieslowki's Academy Award Nominated THREE COLOURS TRILOGY, THREE COLORS: PAN-AFRICAN is an anthology feature film that instead uses the Pan-African flag as its thematic reference point. The film features three stories about Black existence that correlate with the colors of the flag: RED (Liberation), BLACK (Unity), and GREEN (Prosperity).

RED, A collegiate football star scrambles to save his career after a devastating injury fractures his sense of self-worth; BLACK, a Ghanaian single mother loses her job and faces deportation as an unlikely group of heroes rally around her; GREEN, the lead of a struggling Black sitcom questions the cost of success as the network forces the show into racist caricature to boost ratings.

About the Directors

ELIJAH DAVIS — SCA Alumnus, Creator, Producer, Co-Writer ("RED" & "GOLD"), Director (“RED” & "GOLD")

Elijah Davis is a director, writer, and producer hailing from Chicago, Illinois. At 23 years old, he created, co-directed, co-wrote and produced THREE COLORS: PAN-AFRICAN (2026), an anthology feature film starring Bashir Salahuddin, Loretta Devine & Peyton Alex Smith. The film is EP'd by Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney, Tony Award Winner Glenn Davis and NBA MVP Derrick Rose. It premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival where it won the AUDIENCE AWARD FOR BEST NARRATIVE FEATURE FILM and went on to win BEST US NARRATIVE FEATURE FILM at the American Black Film Festival.

Trained in Cinema and Media Studies by USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, Elijah seeks to tell dynamic and progressive stories that engage wide audiences while simultaneously paying reverence to the vast breadth of cinematic history that precedes him.

ALLISON A. WAITE — SCA Alumna, Director (“BLACK”)

Allison A. Waite is an award-winning director and cinematographer. She obtained her MFA from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts in Film & Television Production with a cinematography concentration as a George Lucas Foundation Scholar. Allison studied cinematography at AFI’s inaugural Women in Cinematography Intensive. She also obtained a B.A. from Hampshire College and maintained an interdisciplinary major in Film/Video production and Africana Studies. Allison has received recognition, including the DGA Directorial Achievement Award and a Student Academy Award for her film “The Dope Years.”

Her most recent work for Delta Airlines is a selection for the Tribeca X Awards in 2024. Filmmaking is her activism tool of choice; she aims to give unresolved stories a voice and spark connections within her community.

TYLER OCASIO HOLMES — SCA Alumnus, Director (“GREEN”)

Tyler Ocasio Holmes is a Black American and Puerto Rican filmmaker from Virginia Beach, VA. A graduate of Columbia University, he began his career on Wall Street before pivoting into social justice work, education, and creative storytelling. His path led him into photography, videography, and creative direction, which ultimately inspired his transition into film.

In 2025, Tyler earned his MFA in Film & Television Production from the University of Southern California, where he served as Vice President of the African American Cinema Society, curated the John Singleton Gallery in collaboration with the Academy Museum, and received both the Annenberg Graduate Fellowship and the SCA Impact Award for DEI leadership.

His work spans drama, thriller, comedy, and Afro surrealism. Tyler’s short film A Sound to Remember (2023) was a finalist at the Cannes World Film Festival and winner at the LGBTQ+ Los Angeles Film Festival. He has directed music videos for various artists, including work for Universal Music Group’s Motown Gospel, and wrote and produced a seven episode animated series in partnership with Johns Hopkins University.

A 2024 NAACP x Adobe Editing Fellow, Tyler was mentored by Emmy winner Stephanie Filo and later collaborated with Oscar winning editor Paul Rogers and filmmaker Kahlil Joseph on the multimedia project BLKNWS. He recently directed Meet the Greens, an Afro surreal psychological drama that is part of the feature anthology Three Colors, and is currently developing new projects across film and television.

Outside the Box [Office] is a weekly showcase for upcoming releases highlighting world cinema, documentary and independent film titles. The series draws from around the globe to present movies that may challenge, inspire or simply entertain.

Check-In & Reservations

This program is open to all eligible individuals. The USC School of Cinematic Arts operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. This screening is free of charge and open to the public. A reservation confirmation will automatically be sent to your e-mail account upon successfully making an RSVP through this website. Doors will open at 7:00 P.M.

All SCA screenings are OVERBOOKED to ensure seating capacity in the theater, therefore seating is not guaranteed based on RSVPs. The RSVP list will be checked in on a first-come, first-served basis until the theater is full. Once the theater has reached capacity, we will no longer be able to admit guests, regardless of RSVP status.
