ALICIA MACDONALD (Director)

Alicia MacDonald is known for her brilliant casting and British comedy. Her body of work spans television, commercials, short film and sketches, and she has frequently  collaborated with globally recognized brands and popular streaming networks. She’s won at the British Arrows, YDAs and Kinsale Sharks, and she was featured at the New Director’s Showcase in Cannes Lions. Her TV work includes The Outlaws, Pure, Flack and Sisters. She has recently directed episodes of Lena Dunham’s Netflix series, Too Much.

ANGOURIE RICE (Actress - "Emily Raine")

Angourie Rice is quickly on her way to becoming a major Hollywood starlet, garnering hit success across both film and television.

Rice will next be seen reprising her role in Apple TV’s hit series The Last Thing He Told Me, in which she stars opposite Jennifer Garner and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The Apple TV and Hello Sunshine series is based on Laura Dave’s #1 New York Times bestselling novel of the same name. The first season quickly became Apple TV’s most-watched limited series ever, reaching 4.5 million unique viewers in its first 31 days of streaming. The second season premiered Friday, February 20th.

Most recently, Rice starred in Steal Away, which premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and was quickly snapped up for international distribution.

In 2024, Rice starred in Paramount’s Mean Girls, a comedy inspired by the 2004 original and the Tony-nominated Broadway show. Produced by Lorne Michaels and Tina Fey, Rice played Cady and starred alongside Renee Rapp and Auli’i Cravalho. The star-studded cast also included Tina Fey and Tim Meadows stepping back into their movie roles, as well as newcomers to the franchise, Jon Hamm, Jenna Fischer and Busy Philipps.

Rice marked her first leading role in the 2022 Paramount+ original movie Honor Society, in which Rice played the titular role of Honor alongside co-star Gaten Matarazzo. The film was released exclusively on the streaming platform and, within a week, became the most-watched movie on the platform. In the same year, Rice could also be seen in Netflix’s Senior Year as the high school age counterpart to star Rebel Wilson’s character Stephanie. The Netflix comedy quickly shot to the top of the Netflix Top 10 list and was watched for almost 56 million hours in its first 3 days on the platform.

Rice is best known for starring in the HBO limited series Mare of Easttown opposite Kate Winslet and Jean Smart. The actress stars as Winslet’s lovely and brilliant, though rebellious and strong-headed, daughter, Siobhan. The premiere marked the second-best series debut for an HBO Original on HBO Max, and the series earned Emmy, Critics Choice, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations. Rice also reprised her role of Betty Brant for Marvel’s third installment of the Spider-Man franchise, Spider-Man: No Way Home, starring alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya. The movie grossed over $1.9 billion worldwide to become the highest-grossing film released by Sony Pictures. She originated the role in Spider-Man: Homecoming and returned for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

From a creative family, Rice began her career with several short films and national television commercials. Her breakout role was at 11 years old in Zak Hilditch’s short film Transmission, for which she won Best Actress at the St. Kilda Film Festival. Additional past film credits include her breakout role in Shane Black’s The Nice Guys opposite Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, These Final Hours, The Beguiled, Ladies in Black, Everyday and, the feature adaptation of Jasper Jones and the Australian films Nowhere Boys: The Book of Shadows and These Final Hours. Past television credits include season 5 of Black Mirror, Hartman’s Solution, The Dr. Blake Mysteries and The Worst Year of My Life Again.

In addition to being an international rising star, Angourie has a podcast called The Community Library, which encourages readers and listeners of all ages to think more critically about the media we consume. In 2025, Rice added author to her resume with Stuck Up and Stupid, which she co-wrote with her mother, Kate Rice. The book is a contemporary retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and was released in Australia by Walker Books in October 2023 and in the United States by Candlewick Press in May 2025. Upon release, the novel was selected as Reese's Book Club Summer YA pick in 2025. Her follow-up novel, My Wonderful Disgrace, will be released in May 2026.

Rice is from Australia and lives in Melbourne.

Check-In & Reservations

This program is open to all eligible individuals. The USC School of Cinematic Arts operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. This screening is free of charge and open to the public. A reservation confirmation will automatically be sent to your e-mail account upon successfully making an RSVP through this website. Doors will open at 6:30 P.M.

All SCA screenings are OVERBOOKED to ensure seating capacity in the theater, therefore seating is not guaranteed based on RSVPs. The RSVP list will be checked in on a first-come, first-served basis until the theater is full. Once the theater has reached capacity, we will no longer be able to admit guests, regardless of RSVP status.
