Installed in a refurbished firehouse just north of USC campus, "Infrastructures of the Imagination" is an exhibition focused on the intersection of urban design, speculative fiction, and community planning. The exhibition includes films, interactive VR projects, and a repurposed payphone and bus bench.

This is the final dissertation exhibition of Karl Baumann, largely showcasing his six year collaboration with filmmaker Ben Caldwell and the Leimert Phone Company (LPC). The LPC works with South LA community residents/artists and USC students to create speculative designs, provocative visions, and urban plans for the future of Los Angeles and the Leimert Park neighborhood.

The exhibition focuses on collaborative strategies for designing a more sustainable, pluralistic, and democratic future. Additional projects include tactical designs and research-driven projects with city and industry partners. Audiences will also be invited to participate and share their own ideal visions for our collective urban futures.

Open to the public. No RSVP required.
