Assistant Dean, Facilities and Operations
Douglas Wellman has been the director of facilities and operations since 2003. He came to USC in 1997 as manager of the Robert Zemeckis Center. Wellman is responsible for all of the cinema buildings as well as much of the equipment. He is also in charge of the current building program. In the spring, Wellman teaches the sitcom pilot class, CTPR 382.
Wellman began as a television director in Minneapolis in 1973, moving to Los Angeles in 1980 to work as production manager for the sitcoms The Facts of Life, Gimme a Break and several others. In 1983 he resumed producing and directing, primarily in comedy, where he has over 1,000 credits in series such as An Evening at the Improv, Comedy on the Road, Comic Strip Live and several others, as well as thousands of episodes of talk and magazine format shows. He received a regional Emmy Award in 1989 for producing and directing the Emmy Awards Preview Show for Fox, and a CableAce Award for in 1992 for producing Comedy on the Road. Since coming to USC, he has produced 20 comedy specials for Showtime and over 50 comedy DVD releases.
