Applications by Program and Deadlines

Undergraduates: Apply to USC ; Apply to The School of Cinematic Arts

Graduates: Apply to USC and the School of Cinematic Arts

Important: In addition to the Supplemental Application Form you must submit supplemental materials. Undergraduate applicants submit supplemental materials directly to the School of Cinematic Arts. Graduate applicants submit supplemental materials with the University's Online Application. For a list of required materials for each program, select the program below, and note its respective deadlines.

Specific Application Instructions:

  • If you indicate a second choice on your University application, you MUST submit all the required supplemental materials for both programs if you wish to be considered. Please refer to the admission procedures for each program.
  • Undergraduates: All materials should be typed on standard 8 1/2 x 11-inch paper.  Do not submit applications in binders, page protectors, with paper clips, etc.  Please staple the entire application packet once in the upper left hand corner only.  Each application packet should be placed in the order indicated on the admissions checklist, stapled, and submitted to the School of Cinematic Arts in its own envelope.
  • Undergraduates: Make sure each writing sample is clearly titled and numbered on each page.

          Example:
USC School of Cinematic Arts Personal Statement (p.1, p.2, etc.)
          Category I (p.1)
          Category II (p.1, p.2)
          Portfolio List (p.1, p.2, etc.)

  • Undergraduates: Letters of Recommendation should be sent by the applicant with the other supplemental application materials. Letters of Recommendation may also be submitted directly by the recommender as necessary.
  • Graduates: Please submit letters of recommendation using the University's Online Application.  Recommenders who will not use the online process may send their letters directly to your intended program as listed on the Cinematic Arts Web site.

General Information:

Admission to all degree programs in the School of Cinematic Arts requires application to both the university's Office of Admission (submit USC application for Admission, official transcripts and test scores) and to the School of Cinematic Arts (submit supplemental materials). Graduate applicants are required to submit all supplemental application materials online with the University's Online Application.  See the appropriate degree program section for specific application procedures.
