The New Construction

The School of Cinematic Arts is entering the final stage of its massive reconstruction and modernization process, with the creation of a 60,000 square foot building. The building will house the School's newest divisions, including the Interactive Media Division, the Institute for Multimedia Literacy, and the Media Arts and Practices Ph.D. Program. The four-level facility will include offices, laboratories, classrooms, and a digital theater. It is scheduled to be completed in 2012.

About the SCA Complex Webcam

The SCA Complex Cam is comprised of a Canon XH G1 camera situated on the roof of USC's Webb Tower residence hall. The camera gathers 1920x1080 resolution images at 30 frames per second and feeds that data via HD-SDI to a Blackmagicdesign UltraStudio 3D converter box and then to a Linux server with AJA Kona3 capture card running Spectsoft's RaveHD software and MacMini with a Thunderbolt connection. The live video is streamed via an Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server in 1080p at 30 frames per second. The images being stored on the Linux server will be used to create a time-lapse video of the entire construction.
