The University Art Museum in conjunction with the Art Directors Guild, is presenting the two-day conference,
5D: The Future of Immersive Design on October 4-5, 2008 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center on the California State University, Long Beach campus.
A groundbreaking international conference,
5D: The Future of Immersive Design will explore the profound impact of rapidly changing technologies in design for narrative media—film and television, game design, animation, interactive media, architecture and environment—for artists, designers, scholars, educators and students.
Speakers include:
- Scott Fisher, Chair of Interactive Media Division at the USC School of Cinematic Arts
- Tracy Fullerton, Associate Professor of Interactive Media and Director of EA Game Innovation Lab at the USC School of Cinematic Arts
- Rick Carter, production designer for Forrest Gump, The Polar Express, War of the Worlds and Munich
- Peter Frankfurt, creative director, Imaginary Forces
- Henry Jenkins, director, Comparative Media Studies Program, MIT
- Alex McDowell, production designer for The Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Minority Report
- John Tarnoff, head of Show Development, Dreamworks Animation
