ABOUT GARDEN PARTY

Are you young, sexually confused, just trying to get by? Do you sing, dance or possess some other talent? Welcome to the world of Garden Party. At the center of the story is 15-year-old April (Willa Holland). She is running from one bad situation into another, hoping to find an answer that doesn't involve taking off her clothes. As April navigates Los Angeles, she falls in with a group of confused kids struggling to chase their dreams. The black widow at the center of this web is a sexy, pot-dealing realtor named Sally St. Clair (Vinessa Shaw). Anyone who gets too close falls victim to her kinky entanglements. For some it goes bad, for other worse, but that's just a day in the life of the Garden Party.

This film has not yet been rated by the Motion Picture Association of America. Releases on Friday, July 11th, 2008.

Total Running Time: 89min.

ABOUT THE GUESTS

Jason Freeland (Writer/Director) made his feature debut with Brown's Requiem. Completed in 1998, Brown's Requiem is an adaptation of James Ellroy's first novel which Jason first attempted to option while still attending USC film school. In partnership with producer Tim Youd, Jason finally optioned the novel and wrote his own adaptation. Call it a sophomore jinx. The past eight years has produced many scripts, countless broken promises and several heartbreaks. It wasn't until Jason started talking to producer Tim Youd about a bunch of short stories he had been writing over the years that Garden Party was born. In just a few short weeks, the stories became a script. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Jason moved out west to attend film school and currently lives in Los Angeles.

Tim Youd (Producer) has produced the feature film Brown's Requiem, based on the novel by James Ellroy and directed by Jason Freeland, in addition to producing Garden Party. Tim also produced two short films written and directed by Jason, The Deodorant Salesman Breaks a Sweat and Mr. Nice Guy, which starred James Gandolfini. Tim's paintings are included in Garden Party, and he has a cameo in one of the film's last scenes, appearing as an art gallerist interested in those very paintings.

Ross Patterson (Actor, "Joey Zane") has appeared in over a dozen films including the hit teen movies The New Guy and Accepted. It is also rumored that he killed a man in Fresno over a dispute involving a six pack of uncooked hot dogs. It is important to note that no charges have ever been formally pressed.

Erik Scott Smith (Actor, “Sammy”) has appeared in both film and television with a recurring role on ABC’s Invasion, as well as guest appearances on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, ER and Dawson’s Creek. His film work has included A Home at the End of the World, Cold Mountain and A Walk to Remember.

Richard Gunn (Actor, "Todd") appeared as a series regular on James Cameron’s Dark Angel, and had a lead role in the Sci-Fi Channel movie Lost Voyage. Richard also starred in a sold out run of the LA hit play Fluffy Bunnies in a Field of Daisies at the New York City Fringe Festival and currently has a recurring role on the Showtime series Dexter.
