SCA Student Finalist
Army of Women PSA Contest
 |
| Dr. Love on a recent visit to USC. |
Film students from the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) created Public Service Announcements (PSA) for the newly launched campaign
Army of Women driven by the
AVON Foundation for Women and its partner the
Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. The campaign's goal is to help find breast cancer's cause by empowering people to participate in research opportunities.
Fifty students split equally between SCA and New York University's Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film & Television, submitted proposals to the Love/AVON challenge. With a budget of five thousand dollars, four films were produced. Two films from each university are left to compete for a chance to motivate millions of people to take the next step and sign up for the
Army of Women.
SCA Video Contenders:
Walk in the Park
Courtney Thomas
"The pink bricks are a metaphor for the foundation that each woman can make for the future. I want to show that although we all have busy lives, contributing to the cause is as easy as a walk in the park."
One Million Strong
Brent McHenry & Nick Wenger
"It's about... literally stepping up to the frontline of the battle against this terrible disease... While using the powerful and appropriate metaphor of pink bras, women assemble a chain that brings them together across the globe."
The Grand Prize winner will receive an Apple Final Cut Studio Package and the opportunity to meet with the Senior Vice President of Production at New Regency Productions.
