Jason E. Squire Quoted
In the LA Times
Instructor of Cinema Practice Jason Squire was quoted in the
Los Angeles
Times about automakers advertising their brands through film and TV product
placements.
Audiences can be put off of both the movie and the product if
the placement is heavy-handed, Squire said. "Sometimes they backfire," he
added. "It's a real judgment call."
Jason was also quoted in a front-page Business section article in the Los
Angeles Times on June 14, "Carmakers are Kings of Product Placement Deals."
He provided some history and context and noted that sometimes product
placement deals can backfire, with the audience rejecting both movie and
product if the product placement is too heavy-handed.
